IEC Visa Requirements

After you get an invite for the IEC Visa you will have to provide this information and documents. They will provide you with a list, so you are prepared.

Canada offers a working holiday visa for youth to come work in Canada it is called the International Experience Canada (IEC). This is the easiest visa to get, and recommended. You won’t be tied to a job, and you’re able to stay for 2 years. It is for people aged 18-25 from select countries. For how to apply, go to:

Eligibility

  • Age Requirement: Typically between 18 and 35 years old (varies by country).
  • Country of Citizenship: Your home country must have an agreement with Canada or be eligible through a recognized organization.

Documents needed for the IEC Visa application

  1. Passport
    • A valid passport for the duration of your stay in Canada (minimum coverage of the length of your intended stay).
  2. Proof of $2,500 CAD
    • Show you have at least $2,500 CAD to support yourself upon arrival in Canada.
  3. Medical Insurance
    • Valid health insurance that covers your entire visa length (you may be asked to provide proof upon arrival).
  4. Photograph
    • A digital photo that meets Canadian visa photo requirements (clear, recent, and in colour).
  5. Resume/CV
  6. Application Fees
    • Around $161 CAD for the work permit application (additional costs may apply if a biometrics fee is required).
  7. Biometrics
    • You will need to give fingerprints and a photo (biometrics) if required by your country.
  8. Police Certificate
    • A police clearance from your country or any country where you have lived for six months or more since turning 18. This usually (hopefully) means you have to pay the police for being good.
  9. Parent’s information
    • There will be questions about your parents, so you should have your mother’s maiden name, their birthdates, etc.
  10. Medical exam (If you work in healthcare or with children)
    • If you work in healthcare you will most likely need a medical exam.
